Flashdance Lands In The West End In September

It has now been announced that Flashdance – The Musical will be tearing into London later this year with a production planned for the Shaftesbury Theatre with an expected opening date of 27th September 2010 according to WhatsOnStage.com.
The show which is based off the film of the same name premiered at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth in July 2008 before embarking on a nationwide tour. It features music by Robbie Roth, lyrics Robert Cary and book by Cary and Tom Hedley.

The Lion King Adds 4 More Months

One of the longest running musicals in London’s West End, The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre has added an additional 4 months to its booking period which will take it to the 31st January 2011.
The Disney production originally opened around 10 years ago (11 in October this year) on the 19th October 1999 and tells the story of a lion cub destined to be king but faces fierce competition from another who wants the crown for himself. Mufasa is currently played by Shaun Escoffery.

Blood Brothers Extends

Blood Brothers at the Phoenix Theatre has opened an extra 4 month booking period taking it through to the 27th November 2010.
Set in Liverpool Willy Russells production follows twin brothers who at birth were seperated only to later find each other when their paths crossed once more.
The production first opened on the 27 August 1988 at the Albery Theatre before transferring to its current home at the Phoenix Theatre.
Former Spice Girl Melanie Chrisholm will continue to star as the twins mother, Mrs Johnstone until the 24th April 2010.

The Reviews Are In: Love Never Dies

The Phantom Sequel, Love Never Dies opened at the Adelphi Theatre on the 9th March 2010 and now the reviews are in.
Love Never Dies follows Christine Daae 10 years after the original story when she accepts an invitation to perform at New Yorks fabulous playground of the world – Coney Island. Soon after she lands with her family she discovers who exactly the anonymous person who invited her over to sing is.

Billys Invited To Downing Street

Billy Elliot The Musical will soon be celebrating it’s 5th Birthday at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London and to celebrate the current Billys headed down to meet Prime Minister Gordon Brown at 10 Downing Street.
The Billys, Dean-Charles Chapman, Tom Holland, Ollie Gardner and Fox Jackson-Keen took time out of their busy rehersal schedules to visit the Prime Minister in the Cabinet room.  The four of them were also introduced to other members of parliment Alistair Darling, Peter Mandelson and Margaret Hodge, the Minister for Culture and Tourism.

Christopher Timothy Cast In All The Fun Of The Fair

Christopher Timothy has now been cast alongside David Essex in the musical, All The Fun Of The Fair which opens at the Garrick Theatre from the 20th April 2010.
Timothy is probably most well known from his screen work most notably All Creatures Great And Small and has continued to pursue this line of work in the daytime soap, Doctors. He is not however shy of stage work having appeared in many West End shows including Journey’s End, See How They Run and Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead.

Robin Cousins Ice Dances His Way Into Grease

Dancing On Ice Head Judge and Olympic gold medal-winning ice-dancer, Robin Cousins is dancing his way into Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre to play Teen Angel from the 29th March 2010.
Cousins is no stranger to the stage having previously appeared in such shows as Cats, The Rocky Horror Show and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
