La Cage Will Close In January

La Cage Will Close In JanuaryLa Cage Aux Folles which opened at the Menier Chocolate Factory in 2007 and returned in 2008 to the Playhouse Theatre has announced that the 2nd January 2010 will be the last performance of the musical.

In a nice finish to the musical’s success Douglas Hodge who opened in the production when it premiered in the UK will be in the leading role when it closes following taking over from John Barrowman on the 30th November 2009.  The role has also been played by TV presenter, Graham Norton and Roger Allam.

The musical which tells the tale of night club owner, Georges and his partner and leading performer Albin.  When Georges’s sun returns home and announces a visit from hisd right wing son-in-laws George and Albin are forced into a very sudden change of lifestyle.

Following the closure of the London production, La Cage Aux Folles will transfer to Broadway, where it is due to open in 2010.
