Hairspray

Set in the town of Baltimore in 1962, Hairspray is the story of Tracy Turnblad who loves to dance and a huge fan of the Corny Collins Show on local network TV. Tracy is a big girl with a big heart and believes that everyone can enjoy dancing regardless of race, religion or size and in the process attempts to bring Baltimore kicking and screaming into the 60’s.

But can she upstage the Corny Collins Show’s current princess, bring about a mixing of Baltimore’s people regardless of the way they look or think and win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin without denting her hairdo?

Hairspray is based on the hit movie of the same name which in 2007 was made again staring Zac Efron, Amanda Bynes and a hit cast.

In the London production of Hairspray Michael Ball plays the role of Edna Turnblad (Tracy’s Mum) a role in which in 2007 won him a Laurence Olivier Award.
